Pattern-maker Robin Lumley draws inspiration from the enduring elegance of Art Deco, a design movement that flourished during the Roaring Twenties, persisted through the Great Depression, and shaped aesthetics in the years leading up to the Second World War.

Today, Art Deco continues to inspire jewellery, textiles, and architectural ornamentation—and at Lumley Designs, its legacy lives on in handcrafted plaques and decorative signage, where every curve and contour reflects a timeless design language.

Stylised motifs, and luxurious detailing have long influenced Robin’s approach to cast iron pattern-making, echoing the movement’s revival in the 1960s, where it intersected with Pop Art, and again in the 1980s, amid a surge in graphic design.
